Series: Who Profits Off US-Israeli Genocide?
Lockheed Martin Corp, the number one transnational defense contractor in the world, is also the number one corporation complicit in genocide.
Lockheed Martin develops and supports the US military and its foreign allies by providing the tools it needs to target innocents. It is the birthplace of the F-35 jets, the Multiple Launch Rocket System, and the Longbow Hellfire missiles favored by the Israeli Occupying Forces.
We have witnessed how these weapons have been used to commit genocide in Gaza, where the al-Nasser hospital was just bombed.
Post-October 7, Lockheed Martin stock value increased drastically. Stocks valued at $400 USD jumped up in value to $436 USD, and consistently stayed above $440 USD for months before dipping in late January due to software issue-related delays in preparing to upgrade their F-35 jets.
Lockheed Martin has had an increasingly amicable relationship with Israel. Occupation forces have accumulated a total of 75 F-35 jets over the years, including 25 that were sent as part of a $3 million deal made last summer. This was sponsored by the defense aid package sent over by athe US — and therefore paid for by American taxpayers.
Another of Lockheed Martin’s customers is the Armed Forces of the Philippines, who since the early ’70s have regularly bought C-130 Airlifters that are used to suppress the Philippines’ National Democracy Movement.
Lockheed Martin has proven time and time again that it is an enemy of the people by aiding imperialist powers in their attempt to quell national liberation movements across the world.
In 2023 alone, Lockheed Martin generated $67.6 billion in profit by facilitating imperialist wars in pursuit of economic dominance.
On Friday, Feb. 9, student organizers at University of Maryland Baltimore County protested Lockheed Martin and other military contractors tabling at the Career Fair — joining their peers across the nation opposing their universities’ role in war!
We are calling on our communities and universities nationally to cut ties with all entities aiding in the war machine!
We cannot let the compassion and skills of our students be taken advantage of to perpetuate this cycle of violence.
Ending war and militarism involves exposing and opposing those who profit from it!
