Weapons Watch: All Eyes on the War Industry — Boeing

Series: Who Profits Off US-Israeli Genocide?

Resist US-Led War Movement

Boeing, the third-largest transnational weapons company in the world, is currently profiting from genocide.

Boeing’s biggest customer is the US military. In 2021, most of Boeing’s revenue came from “Defense, Space, & Security” at 39%, and “Global Services” at 29%, which includes defense supply chain, logistics, engineering, and spare parts. Commercial airplanes comprised only 32% of revenue despite being the focus of Boeing’s public image.

In the past 3 months, Boeing has rushed shipments of 1000 smart bombs and 1800 GPS-guidance bomb kits to Israel. These bombs are being used in Gaza to destroy schools, hospitals, and refugee camps. Boeing bombs have been used to destroy residential buildings and target civilians in Israel’s past aggressions in Gaza in 2008, 2009, 2012, 2014, 2019, and 2021.

Boeing regularly supplies Israel with AH-64 Apache helicopters, F-15 fighter jets, and Hellfire missiles, used to aerial bomb the Jenin refugee camp. Boeing supplies Israel Aerospace industries for the F-15 and V-22’s avionics and spare parts, the same fighter jets that indiscriminately lay siege to Gaza on a daily basis, contributing to the over 27,000 deaths in only a matter of months.

Boeing’s other clients include the reactionary anti-people militaries of Egypt, UAW, Morocco, and the Philippines, where Boeing’s missiles, bombs and military aircraft have been documented to kill countless civilians. In the US, Boeing was contracted to build high-tech surveillance of the US-Mexico border. Boeing aircraft are used by ICE contractors for most aerial deportations. Everywhere militarism thrives, Boeing profits, and it is ordinary people who pay the ultimate price.

In 2020 alone, Boeing was awarded: A $9.8 billion contract to modernizes Saudi Arabia’s F-15 fleet; $3.1 billion from the US Navy to supply Saudi Arabia and six other countries with cruise missile systems; and $2.2 billion over five years from the US Air Force to manufacture small-diameter bombs at its St. Charles facility. The contract includes sales to foreign nations, including Israel. Boeing’s billions in profits amount to nothing less than blood money.

Boeing funds local cultural institutions to launder its reputation and gain billions in tax breaks. Boeing has pledged over $50 million to University of Washington to steer research, curriculum, and recruiting toward Boeing’s priorities, and ensure the university produces a steady pipeline of Boeing employees. Our public institutions should serve the people, not the war machine. Several University of Washington student and community organizations have united in adopting the demand to end UW’s complicity in genocide and cut ties with Boeing.

Ending war and militarism involves exposing and opposing those who profit from it! All across the world, organizations are adopting calls for institutions and individuals to cut ties with war profiteers! Join the fight today! Join the Resist US-Led War Movement!
