The attack perpetrated by the police and the military forces of Ecuador of the Mexican Embassy in that country has caused a serious political crisis policy which has, as its outstanding feature, the rupture of diplomatic relations between Mexico and Ecuador, including the announcement by the Mexican government to take the matter before the International Criminal Court.

What was done by the President of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa Azín, is a totally reprehensible act, which violates the international conventions that maintain fraternal and peaceful relations between countries. This act has sparked widespread international condemnation. It is true that the government of Manuel López Obrador was prevented from granting political asylum to the former Ecuadorian Vice President, Jorge Glas, who was under an executory sentence for illicit association and an order of detention for embezzlement. However, none of this justifies the violation of the Mexican Embassy.

It is clear, by statements and actions that have occurred both before and after this event, that the interests of particular politicians, of the ruling classes and their governments, and not the interests of the workers and the people, were at play. As both regimes are at the service of large native and international capital. Their actions demonstrate this.

Between the workers and peoples of Mexico and Ecuador there are strong ties of fraternity founded on historical and political processes: common bonds, forged in the independence struggles against Spanish colonialism, and in the fight to end exploitation by the ruling classes and imperialist oppressors. The people of Mexico have been in solidarity with the Ecuadorian migrants who pass through their territory on the difficult journey to the United States. But there also have also been cases in which the Mexican government has expelled them from its territory. The disagreements between the governments of the bourgeoisie do not break the brotherhood between the workers and peoples. This brotherhood must be strengthened to confront our common enemies.

Our parties, the Marxist-Leninist Communist Party of Ecuador and the Communist Party of Mexico (Marxist-Leninist), members of the International Conference of Marxist-Leninist Parties and Organizations (ICMLPO), condemn the attack committed against the Embassy of Mexico, and hold their respective governments responsible for the present crisis and for the negative effects that it can cause the peoples of the both countries, and issue a call to maintain the class unity of the workers and people of our two countries and to strengthen our emancipatory struggles.

Proletarians of all countries, Unite!

Long live the unity and brotherhood of the workers and peoples of Ecuador and Mexico!
