SOLIDARITY WITH TAKIYAH THOMPSON! NO CHARGES AGAINST ANTI-FASCIST AND ANTI-RACIST ACTIVISTS!
Tuesday, August 15th, Comrade Taliyah Thompson, a student at North Carolina Central University and a member of Workers World Party, participated in an anti-racist protest in Durham, North Carolina, in which she climbed a statute honoring a Confederate soldier and tied a rope to that statue in order that it could be toppled to the ground.
Comrade Thompson has been arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, damage to real property (Misdemeanors), participation in a riot with property damage in excess of $1,500 (Class H Felony) and inciting others to riot where there is property damage in excess of $1,500 (Class F Felony).
We demand the immediate release of Comrade Thompson and the dropping of all charges. Comrade Thompson’s brave act is an example to all anti-racist and anti-fascist activists to permit no platform to reactionaries – whether those of today or those of more than a century ago.
Freedom for Takiyah Thompson!
Death to racism and fascism!
