Statement by Red Youth Rising | Jan. 3, 2026–

Red Youth Rising vehemently condemns the Trump regime’s imperialist assault on Venezuela which slaughtered innocent Venezuelans and resulted in the kidnapping of Nicolas Maduro and Cilia Flores. Today’s attacks were blatantly carried out on the behalf of fossil fuel capital, the military industrial complex, and the broader capitalist class as a whole. The goal of these crimes is clear- to exploit the Venezuelan people and Venezuela’s natural resources. 

Red Youth Rising stands in unwavering solidarity with the Venezuelan people against these attacks. The American youth have no interest whatsoever in supporting yet another war for the benefit of the rich, owning class. The only safe future for the working youth is a future which respects the right to self-determination for all — something incompatible with the capitalist system. 

It is the responsibility of the American youth to rise up and take action against the Trump regime’s escalation. We cannot sit idly by while Trump and the capitalist class massacres youth and workers abroad. We cannot be fooled by claims of efforts to establish “Freedom and Democracy” and lies about alleged connections to drug cartels. We must demand an end to imperialism and the decaying capitalist system which necessitates it.
