On the morning of January 3, 2026, a large-scale military aggression of the United States began against Venezuela. This open war move has been in the works for months through various pretexts, lies, threats, military deployments in the Caribbean Sea, murder of fishermen, and a shameful Nobel Peace Prize.
While bombings struck working-class neighborhoods of Caracas, causing deaths and injuries, the fascist Trump declared that his special forces had kidnapped and seized the president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, and his wife, thus carrying out a military coup similar to the one that took place in Chile in 1973.
Faced with brutal aggression that destabilizes the region and disrupts international relations, the Venezuelan working class and people, together with Marxist-Leninists and anti-imperialist, anti-fascist, and patriotic forces of the world, are developing resistance to this violence. This aggression represents the actions of the most aggressive and warmongering imperialist power, a fierce enemy of peoples, freedom, democracy, and progress. It relies on reactionary and fascist elements of the local oligarchy to advance its aims.
We strongly reject and condemn the criminal US aggression and express our solidarity with the workers and people of Venezuela. We defend their inalienable right to self-determination, freedom, and national sovereignty.
We call upon the workers, the youth of our country, and all anti-fascist, anti-imperialist, popular, revolutionary, and democratic forces to raise their voices, mobilize, and demonstrate support for the Venezuelan people. We call on them to unequivocally reject the US imperialist plan to seize Venezuela’s oil reserves and other resources which is an attempt to maintain US dominance in the region and subjugating the people of South America.
We denounce the alignment of the subservient Meloni government to US aggression and to fascists in South America. We demand an end to the policy of war, rearmament, and austerity, and withdrawal from NATO and the EU which are warmongering, anti-democratic, and anti-people institutions.
At this moment, with the exacerbation of war threats and the rise of fascism, it becomes even more crucial to work towards building a broad anti-fascist and anti-imperialist popular front, to build a force strong enough to defeat the far right and fascism.
The struggle is political, ideological, economic, and social, and must be utilized to push all workers’ and popular organizations towards unity and higher levels of organization.
The tragic events unfolding in Venezuela, occurring in a context of intensified struggle between imperialist powers for a new division of the world, once again expose the true face of bourgeois “democracy” and teach us that no illusions can be harbored about imperialism; It is reactionary in every respect, intensifying national oppression and waging wars of plunder.
These events demonstrate that the path to socialism and communism can only be achieved through the revolutionary dictatorship of the proletariat led by the communist party.
