The American Party of Labor resolutely and in no uncertain terms condemns the military assault on Venezuela and the kidnapping of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

While events are still unfolding and reports are scattered and contradictory regarding the internal situation in Venezuela, it is clear that in the early morning hours of Jan. 3, US military forces bombed military targets in that country and captured and sequestered President Maduro. Reports indicate that President Maduro has been forcibly taken to the United States to face criminal charges.

This is nothing less than an act of state terrorism and a grotesque violation of international law. By this act of aggressive war, as defined by the Nuremburg Accords, the Trump government is an outlaw regime; and President Donald J. Trump and his administration are war criminals deserving of universal condemnation and ostracism from the community of nations.

We demand an immediate cessation of all hostilities against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the immediate release of President Nicolas Maduro.

The American Party of Labor urges all its comrades, friends and allies, and all progressive, democratic, and revolutionary-minded people – all people of good conscience – to immediately take to the streets to protest this act of barbarism to the fullest extent possible.

No to war with Venezuela!

Stop the bombing now!

Free President Nicolas Maduro!

Hold warmonger Trump and his criminal gang accountable!
