A bright red star has joined the heavens

Comrade Badruddin Umar, leader of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (Marxist-Leninist), and president of the National Liberation Council of Bangladesh, has died.

Author of nearly 100 books and articles on political economy, the culture of capitalism, and the problems of revolution, socialism and national liberation in Bangladesh and the Third World; Comrade Umar was a distinguished and respected theorist of Marxism-Leninism. Comrade Umar’s political career spanned six decades. His activities placed him at the forefront of the struggles of the Bangladeshi people from the 1960s to the present.

The American Party of Labor bows its head in respect to the legacy of this exemplary revolutionary and communist.

Comrade Badruddin Umar will live forever in the hearts of the Bangladeshi workers and peasants, and in the hopes and aspirations of working and oppressed peoples throughout the world.
