National Guard invades Los Angeles: Say no to the fascist war against the people!

The Secretariat of the American Party of Labor–

The fascist Trump regime is escalating its violent attacks on the people with the deployment of the National Guard on protesters in Los Angeles. ICE raids began targeting migrant communities in LA over the last two days. Anti-fascists, progressives, and migrant rights defenders were on the scene to observe, document, and protest the actions of ICE since officers arrived on Friday. ICE arrested, detained, and injured several dozen protestors, including SEIU California president David Huerta.

“What happened to me is not about me; This is about something much bigger. This is about how we as a community stand together and resist the injustice that’s happening. Hard-working people, and members of our family and our community, are being treated like criminals. We all collectively have to object to this madness because this is not justice. This is injustice. And we all have to stand on the right side of justice,” Huerta said in a statement released by SEIU California on Friday.

Huerta was released from the hospital, but remains in custody at the time of writing.

On Saturday, protests continued, blocking roads and justly fighting back against fascist militarized police kidnapping migrants and community members. The Trump regime, in response, has deployed 2,000 National Guard personnel to crack down on the protests–a huge overreaction by an administration scared of the power of a people’s protest movement. U.S. Representative Nanette Barragán has related that California state officials have been instructed by Washington to prepare for thirty days of National Guard deployment. This will amount to a military occupation and counter-insurgency.

When the federal government sends in a militarized police force to kidnap and beat community members and organizers, war has been declared on the people. The Trump administration is committing acts of state terror. Additionally, the administration has threatened to “send in the Marines” to quell the protests. While this may be bravado and posturing from Trump, we cannot and will not ignore the threat to send regular military forces to suppress popular protests.

The American Party of Labor vehemently and in no uncertain terms condemns this fascist war against the people! We call on all our comrades, friends, supporters and allies to take action, to raise their voices and hit the streets.

Now is the time to unite with your community. Connect with and grow community organizations which are dedicated to kicking ICE out. Now is the time for militant people’s action. The stakes are rising. We must not for one second waiver or hesitate to stand up to the fascist onslaught.
