We, the Coordinating Committee of the International Conference of Marxist-Leninist Parties and Organizations (ICMLPO) strongly condemn and reject the US imperialist interventionist policy against Iran, its workers and peoples.

The region of the Middle East is the scene of sharp confrontations in which the geopolitical interests of several imperialist powers (the United States, Russia, China, European countries) and their reactionary regional allied forces are played out. In their contention for regional control, they impose economic sanctions, provoke wars and military invasions, as has happened and is continuing in Iraq, Libya, Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria. Today there is a danger of a new US military operation against Iran.

To justify their interventionism, the US imperialists –along with their reactionary allies– have mounted a worldwide campaign of lies and misinformation regarding the nuclear program carried out by Iran, stigmatizing it as a risk to regional and world peace. In reality the danger of war comes from the interimperialist contention, in the voracious appetites of the monopolies that, in this case, have established themselves in the Persian Gulf region or want to do so.

US imperialism is characterized by its warmongering policy that is well known to the people. Months ago, unilaterally, the United States abandoned the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPA) and when it was in it, it failed to fulfil its commitments. At the same time it is intensifying its threatening and intimidating offensive, while maintaining economic and commercial sanctions against Iran.

The provocations of the United States in the Persian Gulf region are acts of international terrorism. The dozens of military bases, especially of the United States in the Middle East, are sources of threats and provocations.

The victims of this type of conflict are the workers and the people, while for the monopoly groups, the imperialist powers and bourgeois factions it is an opportunity to expand and consolidate their power and increase their millions in profits.

On behalf of the parties and organizations of ICMLPO, we express our solidarity with the workers and peoples of Iran, with their brave struggle for democracy and freedom, against imperialism in defence of the right to self-determination of the people, for the sovereignty and independence of their country.

Only the peoples of Iran, not the foreign powers, have the right to determine the course of their country. All imperialist powers must leave the region –only this can guarantee peace and security for the peoples.

No to US imperialist interventionism in Iran; long live the sovereignty of Iran!

Long live the struggle of the workers and peoples of Iran!
